Today I released 0.99 prebeta 4, which is mainly a service release of 0.99 prebeta 3. Some bugs are fixed (e.g. Accurate Rip info in the log) and some of the external programs are updated (Accurate Rip, FLAC, WM Encoding Script).
I wanted to have this version out before I start the work on the next release which will have larger improvements. Of course, the numerous changes that are planned for the next version will take some time, so don’t expect any new version until mid of the year…
Further I have included a desktop and quick launch bar icon in the installer which link to eBay. As the advertisements on the homepage dropped by a great amount over the last year, I decided to try to go this way. I hope that you can understand my decision! Anyway, the icons are created only on the installation of EAC and their installation can be easily prevented by deselecting the eBay component within the EAC installer. The EAC application itself is still completely free from advertisement or spyware (and will be)!
I hope that you will like the new version nevertheless!

Translations of EAC
All available translation files for EAC on this page can be downloaded (unzip them and put into EAC’s Languages directory, they will be found after restarting of EAC). All translations that are a work-in-progress are not listed here. If you find any problem with the translation, please mail the person responsible for that translation, the address of each translator is provided within the appropriate language pack, have a look at the about box in EAC when the language is selected.
If your language is not yet assigned to be translated and you want to do the work, please write to gregg [at] cdrinfo [dot] pl. To do the translations well, you should have good knowledge of your own and of the English language, and have a look at the English resource file that comes with EAC. This file is 140 kB in size, and will take quite some time to translate! Be absolutely sure, that you really want to do this before mailing me!
For new translations you will also need to generate the language code. There’s a tool below which serves that purpose, but for it to work as expected, your system language must be set to the language you are translating to. The program generates two numbers (which should be put into the strings which identifiers are shown there) – first of them is the actual language code, while the second is a checksum.

Download up to date English language file.To aid in the translation, you can download the translation tool (courtesy of David Rogard). It automates the process of finding the strings to be translated in the original file and finds the appropriate place in the destination file. It can also automatically download the latest source file from the EAC server. You can find more information about the tool here.

Of course, there might be problems trying to translate EAC using this resource file. Depending on your language there might be different character sets, that will not be displayed correctly, or your language is written from right to left, etc. If it is not possible this way, please contact me to see if it can be changed (slightly) to make translation into such a language possible.
Please do not ask the authors for the language files, they will be published here for download as soon as they are finished. Only contact the authors for errors in the translation or similar issues.
List of Translations
Most languages are already included in the EAC installer. The following translations are either newer versions or for some reason haven’t been included in EAC distribution.
Please note that currently there are 3 language files – 1 EAC main translation and 2 for plugins (freedb, gd3) and they need to be put in appropriate folders in the EAC installation folder.Dutch Gerard Edmonds Download French Dominique Ottello (après Éric Junca et Christophe Démaret) Download Spanish Sergi Medina Download Uzbek Sherzod Mamatkulov Download Older and not yet updated language files

Bad luck, it is not possible to load the 0.99pb1 profiles anymore, this should be fixed now, please use 0.99 prebeta 3

As the 0.99 prebeta 1 had some severe bugs and the accurate rip log output was not as clear as it could have been, so some wordings are now changed. I hope this version will be much more stable… Enjoy!

Finally here comes a new prebeta version of EAC, it took quite some time for this update, but I hope you like all the new features.
One of the biggest changes is the wide support for AccurateRip in order to have now two seperate mechanisms to ensure bit-perfect rips. Logs are now written with all AccurateRip information, and AccurateRip is able to work in any extraction mode (as long as whole tracks are read).
Another often requested feature is copy & test for CD images, which is now also included.
EAC now corrects the VBR header of MP3 files after writing its ID3 tags, also more tags are written like duration, command line encoder settings and the full CD TOC for later freedb lookups.
Please remark that now the drive options are not stored by adapter and ID anymore, but by the drives name. So, if you own two identical drives, changing one drives options will directly change the other drives option. To realise this, all old profiles can not be loaded anymore. If you need your old profiles, it would be best to install the new version side by side with the old version. Then load a profile with the old version and close the program. Open the new version and save the appropriate options (e.g. compression options). Sorry for the inconvenience!
Of course the work on EAC will continue, there is already a big wishlist on the EAC forum that will be worked on within the next months.
I hope you like it! -
Finally I have a new web page! I hope all of you like the new style… Many thanks to Langenberg Design, which designed this new layout.
A new version of EAC is also in the works, but this can still take some more weeks…

I tried to select several files at once, but afterwards, the first and last file changed place. What can I do?
In windows kernel is a bug, that occurs when selecting multiple files at once (e.g. in write dialog or in ID3Tag dialog). The first and last file name will be exchanged. This could result in some problems, so with the option “Correct bug of wrong filename order in Windows multiple file dialog” EAC will again exchange the first and last filename to the correct order.

What are “Alternate CD Play Routines”?
These routines will playback audio tracks by extracting the data and directly playing them through the soundcard. It is not necessary that the drive is connected to the soundcard by a cable.

How to perform CDDB queries in batch mode?
Just insert all CDs you want to query into the actual drive EAC uses (do not edit any data!), afterwards press Alt-P.

Can you use EAC to take pops/clicks out?
I assume that you are recording the CD to WAV and then using the WAV to burn a rw-cd. There’s an extra step in the middle to edit the clicks out of the WAV file. More complex pops that occur on analog recording (tapes, etc.) should be found by listening to the WAV roughly to find the positions with +/- 3 seconds accuracy. Then select such a range and choose “Pop Detection”. Usually EAC will find them automatically. If not, switch to “Spectral View” and look for any anormalities. Then you have different options to remove the pop.
